Transfiguration Church began its 31st anniversary celebration Saturday, Sept. 27, with 5 p.m. Mass. After the liturgy, more than 200 guests attended the Blue & Silver Ball, and pastor Msgr. Pat Bishop presented the annual parish awards followed by a champagne toast, anniversary cake and a gathering around the chocolate fountains.

Among those receiving awards were Mike Meehan, who was honored by the youth ministry department for his dedication and for inspiring teens and adults; Gloria and Esteban Nolasco, honored with the Hispanic Advisory Council award; the parish’s choir, given the Marilyn MacInnis Award, which recognizes the group or ministry that has promoted the spirit and goals of the parish; Brad Bell, who received the Pastor’s Award “for his unselfish leadership in reviewing the finances of this parish and his hard work on behalf of the people of this parish family community”; Ed and Marian Cronin, honored with the Christian Living Award, as an example of Christ’s selfless gift of love to all people; and the Haiti Committee, given the Lumen Gentium, the “Light of Christ Award,” for taking the spirit of Christ’s love from the parish out into the world. The Haiti Committee was the recipient of the honor “in recognition of the deep love and affection in which they hold the people of Notre Dame de Lorette in Belle Anse on an island of such tremendous needs.”
