Archbishop Announces New Priest Assignments

First Pastorate

Father Neil J. Herlihy, currently a parochial vicar at St. Thomas More Church, Decatur, has been assigned to his first pastorate as pastor of St. Peter the Rock Church, The Rock.

Pastors

Father Paul W. Berny, currently pastor of St. Joseph Church, Marietta, has been assigned as pastor of Prince of Peace Church, Flowery Branch.

Father John P. Walsh, who has completed a sabbatical, has been assigned as pastor of St. Joseph Church, Marietta.

College Chaplains

Father Timothy Hepburn, who has completed graduate study, has been assigned as chaplain at the Catholic Center at Georgia Tech. He has also been assigned part-time to the Office of the Permanent Diaconate and part-time to a new Office of Evangelization. Father Hepburn will reside at the Catholic Center at Georgia Tech.

Father Joseph E. Morris, currently a parochial vicar at Prince of Peace Church, Flowery Branch, has been assigned as chaplain at the Kennesaw State University Catholic Center in Kennesaw and at Berry College in Rome. For the sake of canonical status he is appointed as a parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw.

High School Chaplain

Father Ricardo X. Bailey, currently a parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta, has been assigned as chaplain at Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell. He will continue to also serve as assistant vocations director of the archdiocese. For the sake of canonical status he is appointed as a parochial vicar at Transfiguration Church, Marietta, where he will also reside.

Military Chaplains

Father Fred W. Wendel, pastor of Prince of Peace Church, Flowery Branch, has been given permission to enter active duty as a chaplain with the United States Army under the Archdiocese of Military Services. This assignment is effective June 6, 2008, for an initial period of three years.

Father Kevin T. Peek, currently the chaplain at Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, has been given permission to enter active duty as a chaplain with the United States Army under the Archdiocese of Military Services. This assignment is effective for an initial period of three years from June 8, 2008, to Sept. 10, 2011.

Counselor For Catholic Charities

Father Stewart Wilber, currently the administrator for St. Peter the Rock Church, the Rock, has been assigned as full-time counselor with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Inc. The new position has been made possible by a grant from the Humanitas Foundation. He will reside at St. George Village, Roswell.

Master Of Ceremonies

Father Diosmar Natad, currently a parochial vicar at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell, has been assigned as the personal master of ceremonies to Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory. He will reside at St. Brigid Church, Alpharetta.

Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Home Chaplain

Msgr. Richard J. Lopez, serving on the faculty at St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, will continue that service and has been given the additional assignment of serving as the chaplain at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, Atlanta. He will reside at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home.

St. Paul Program

Father Jose Duvan Gonzalez, currently the director of Hispanic ministries for the archdiocese and administrator of San Felipe de Jesus Mission, Forest Park, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta, and as the director of the new St. Paul Program of the archdiocese. He will reside at St. Joseph Church.

Parochial Vicars

Father Jorge Arevalo Alzate, currently a parochial vicar at San Felipe de Jesus Mission, Forest Park, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta.

Father Paul A. Burke, who has been serving as campus minister at Kennesaw State University and chaplain at Berry College in Rome, has been assigned full-time as a parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta.

Father Yuen Caballejo Servanez, currently a parochial vicar at St. Brigid Church, Alpharetta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Church, Atlanta.

Father José Angel Márquez Gómez of the Archdiocese of Puebla, Mexico, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Dalton.

Father Roberto Jaramillo, currently a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Our Lady of the Americas Mission, Lilburn.

Father Jose M. Kochuparampil, CMF, currently a parochial vicar at Corpus Christi Church, Stone Mountain, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. James Church, McDonough.

Father Danilo Alberto Lopez, currently a parochial vicar at St. Oliver Plunkett Church, Snellville, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Theresa Church, Douglasville.

Father Casmir Maduakor, currently a parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Church, Marietta.

Father Dung Nguyen, J.C.L., currently a parochial vicar at St. John Neumann Church, Lilburn, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Thomas More Church, Decatur.

Father Mansueto Palang, currently a parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, has been assigned as parochial vicar at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alpharetta.

Father Manuel de Jesús Rivas, currently a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Dalton, has been assigned as a part-time parochial vicar at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw, and part-time as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Church, Marietta. He will reside at Holy Family Church.

Father Jaime Rivera, currently a parochial vicar at St. Theresa Church, Douglasville, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Woodstock.

Father Michael S. Sherliza, currently a parochial vicar at St. Andrew Church, Roswell, has been assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Joseph Church, Marietta.
