Mercy Baseball Team Looks To Bounce Back Next Year

The Our Lady of Mercy Bobcats went winless in varsity play this year, but with only three seniors on a team of 17 players, the potential for improvement exists. Sophomore Daniel Boccella led the team in runs batted in, while senior Brett Thomas led the team with hits and a batting average of over .400. Sophomore William Pearl also led the team in stolen bases during the season.
In Mercy’s final game of the season, cross-town rival Landmark Christian School compiled 13 runs on 10 hits to shut out the Bobcats. Mercy could only manage one hit combined with four errors.
Speaking to the team in their dugout following the game, first-year head coach Edward Marietta urged his players to work hard in the off season to get prepared for next year.
