Our Lady of Mercy High School’s girls soccer team lost to The Galloway School, Atlanta, in a hard-fought match that went into two overtimes. After a scoreless first period, Galloway scored first on a goal by sophomore forward Danielle Haik with 21:30 left in the second period. Mercy’s Catie Palmer scored a goal with 14:52 left to tie the score 1-1. That’s how the game ended in regulation. When the two teams failed to score on each other after two five-minute overtimes, the game was settled in dramatic fashion on five penalty kicks by each team. In the end Galloway out-kicked Mercy to win 4-3. The loss moves Our Lady of Mercy to 1-4-0 on the season.

The Galloway boys defeated the Our Lady of Mercy boys 3-0 after leading 1-0 at intermission. The loss pushes Mercy to a record of 4-5-1. Mercy needs a win against Lamar County, April 2, to secure a playoff spot.
