Flute Choir To Perform At Mary Our Queen

Published March 8, 2007

The Atlanta Music Academy Flute Choir, under the direction of Kelly Via, will be performing in concert at Mary Our Queen Church on Sunday, March 18, at 2:30 p.m.

The AMA Flute Choir is composed of students in grades nine through 12, college students and an AMA faculty member. The 2006-07 membership represents 12 high schools and three colleges in the metro area. The choir rehearses once a week and presents an average of six to eight performances during the school year. They have performed throughout the southeast for the National Flute Association, the Georgia Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education conventions in Orlando, Daytona, Nashville, Savannah and Atlanta.

Flute choirs have a unique sound and a range of five octaves with the piccolo, alto and bass flutes playing with the more familiar C concert flute.

A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors is suggested. A reception will follow the concert.
