St. Pius To Hold Event For Fathers

Published December 14, 2006

The 16th annual Dad’s Morning of Recollection will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Pius X High School, 2674 Johnson Road, NE.

Msgr. Richard Lopez, a well-known speaker and religion teacher at St. Pius, will lead the event, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Mass, followed by doughnuts and coffee. There will then be a presentation by Msgr. Lopez, followed by discussion and question-and-answer sessions. Lunch and the sacrament of reconciliation will conclude the morning at about 1:30 p.m.

Dan Homrich, chairman of the event’s organizing committee, said that the day will give fathers the opportunity to share experiences with one another.

“We are inviting past and present fathers of St. Pius students to take some time away from the ‘catch as catch can’ approach to being a father and spend some time examining issues that we all face,” he said.

Msgr. Lopez said that the morning of recollection is about the “gifts and graces of fatherhood.”

“My goal is to do the will of God and for these fathers to gain some strength and insight in their sacred calling,” Msgr. Lopez said.
