Roswell Parish To Host Catholic Author, Television Host
Published December 14, 2006
Best-selling Catholic author and television personality Patrick Madrid will lead “Surprised by the Truth,” an apologetics and Bible conference Jan. 26 and 27, 2007, at St. Peter Chanel Church.
Madrid, the author of 12 books, including “Surprised by the Truth,” “Does the Bible Really Say That?” and “Search and Rescue,” is also the editor of Envoy, a Catholic magazine, and the host of four Eternal Word Television Network TV and radio series. He comes to St. Peter Chanel as part of the parish’s major speaker series sponsored by their adult education department.
Attendees to the two-day conference will gain better insight into encouraging lapsed Catholics to return to the fullness of the faith.
On Friday, Jan. 26, the conference will begin with pre-registration at 7 p.m., followed by the night’s talk entitled “Ten Mistakes Catholics Make When Sharing the Faith.”
On Saturday, from Jan. 27, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. there will be two sessions led by Madrid. The first, “The Bible and the Catholic Church: A Marriage Made in Heaven,” will focus on the role of Scripture and tradition in the Catholic Church, while the second session, “Surprised by the Truth,” will focus on the reasons why people return to the faith and why more people continue to convert to the Catholic Church.
From 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, there will be two additional sessions. “Does the Bible Really Say That?” will focus on the biblical basis for Catholicism, while “Angels and Demons” will offer insight into spiritual warfare.
Seating is limited for the conference.
The cost to register prior to Jan. 17 is $20, and those who complete advanced registration can also order lunch for an additional $6.
After Jan. 17, the cost for registration increases to $30.
