Spring Hill Campus Hosts Extension Students

Published October 19, 2006

Spring Hill College theology students and theology alumni of the college and its extension sites in Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., and Jackson, Miss., will take part in the annual Spring Hill Day celebration on the Mobile campus Oct. 28.

Those who are pursuing or who have already received master’s degrees or certificates in theology will meet with their peers from other states and with Spring Hill theology faculty for this day of fellowship. The day will culminate in evening Mass and recognition of those who have just earned certificates in spiritual direction.

“It is such a special time of fellowship, education and reminiscing with our students. We look forward to the event each year,” said Dr. Timothy R. Carmody, director of graduate theology.

Presenters include Dr. John Switzer, assistant professor, speaking on “The Gifts of Otherness” and Elizabeth Bailey, a master of theology graduate, presenting her master’s thesis. Father Frederick Gunti, professor of moral theology, will be the homilist at Mass.

The Jesuit Catholic college offers theology courses at its main campus in Mobile and three extension sites which can be applied to graduate or undergraduate degrees or certificates.
