Georgia Bulletin Artist Wins National Poster Contest

Published September 21, 2006

A poster designed by Thomas Schulte, graphic designer for The Georgia Bulletin, was recently chosen as the winner of the Catholic Press Association’s annual Catholic Press Month poster contest.

Schulte’s poster, which depicts a dog receiving angel wings and a halo after fetching a Catholic newspaper, was chosen among entries from Catholic press members around the country. “Get Catholic News and Be Enlightened,” the poster reads.

In an article announcing Schulte’s win in The Catholic Journalist, newspaper of the CPA, Schulte’s poster’s originality is cited as the standout quality among the many “impressive” entries.

“The winning entry featured a truly original look and demonstrated that some effort had been made to match the medium to the message,” the judges reported.

The posters, in English and Spanish versions, are available for purchase by CPA members. All parishes in the Archdiocese of Atlanta will receive a copy of the poster, courtesy of The Georgia Bulletin.
