Marist School hosted Region 6-AAAA rival Tucker High School in their home opener Sept. 8. Marist fell behind 21-3 with less than six minutes to go in the second quarter. A touchdown run by senior fullback Preston Lyons before halftime cut the deficit by 11. In the third quarter Marist scored two more touchdowns and held the Tucker offense scoreless to take a 24-21 lead. With a few minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, a mishap surrounding the snap to Marist punter Matt Barnes led to a turnover that gave Tucker the ball just short of the goal line. Tucker quarterback Chris Simpson scored two plays later to seal a 27-24 victory, pushing the Marist record to 1-1 after their second game. Marist takes on Washington High School Friday.

In other football news, St. Pius X High School senior running back Tyler Fish scored three touchdowns for the second week in a row to lead Pius to a 42-7 win over Stone Mountain High School. St. Pius (2-0) goes to Columbia High School Saturday.

After a 41-6 victory over Griffin Christian School, Holy Spirit Preparatory (1-1) travels to Terrell. Pinecrest Academy (1-1) attempts to rebound from last week’s loss against Flint River Academy as they face Tiftarea Academy.

Blessed Trinity High School (1-0) and Our Lady of Mercy High School (0-1) were both idle last weekend but will go on the road against Therrell High School and Athens Christian Academy, respectively.
