The Amigos for Christ nonprofit organization and Bryce Homes will present the Amigos for Christ Fiesta and Golf Classic on Sept. 29 and 30, benefiting Amigos missionary work for the poor of Nicaragua.

The daylong fiesta of solidarity and fellowship with poor Nicaraguan families is from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Suwanee Town Center Park.

In addition, the Amigos for Christ Golf Classic will be held Friday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. at the Pine Isle Golf Resort at Lake Lanier Islands. This is a golf scramble, and benefits packages are offered for every level, designed to give sponsors optimal exposure the entire weekend. The day will be filled with prizes, food and drink and healthy competition. Foursomes are welcome. Early registration is recommended.

The Saturday event has free admission and will include arts and crafts, a variety of foods for purchase, games for the whole family and more.

Onstage there will be plenty of music, with live acts all afternoon. Banks & Shane, Chip Houston, The Greg Rogers Bluegrass Band, the Transiztors, and Abbotts Bridge will perform. Headlining the musical acts are The Classic Rock All-Stars, including Peter Rivera of Rare Earth, Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf, Mike Pinera of Iron Butterfly and Dennis Noda of Cannibal & the Headhunters, who will jam together and delight festival-goers with hits from rock’s golden days.

The emcee is Fox 5 anchor Russ Spencer, who has traveled to Nicaragua on an Amigos for Christ mission trip. Amigos is based in Buford, Ga., and holds trips throughout the spring and summer months.

All are invited to come and celebrate the courage and faith, despite tremendous odds, of the Nicaraguans and learn about Amigos work in Nicaragua, with its extensive array of programs in areas including agriculture, education and health care. The Suwanee Town Center Park is located at 370 Buford Highway at the corner of the park.
