Marist Paper Wins Press Awards

Published May 4, 2006

Marist School’s newspaper, The Blue and Gold, and literary magazine, The Rapier, both won the Silver Crown Award at the Columbia Scholastic Press Awards Conference held in March.

Publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. This was the first nomination and win for The Rapier. Crown Awards are the highest recognition given by the CSPA to a student print or online medium for overall excellence.

Students and advisors collect, select and type written materials submitted for publication in The Rapier, named for Father George Rapier, SM, first principal of Marist. The Blue and Gold is published six times per year, and is Georgia’s oldest high school newspaper.
