St. Brigid To Offer Mass For Pregnancy, Newborn Loss
Published April 13, 2006
Father Joseph Corbett, vicar general of the archdiocese and pastor of St. Brigid Church, will celebrate a Mass on Monday evening, April 24, for all those who have suffered a pregnancy or newborn loss and for the infants who died. The Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m., preceded by the rosary at 6:30 p.m.
The Mass of the Tiny Innocents recognizes that every child is loved by God and made in his image and likeness and so every child’s life, no matter how brief, is a gift to the church. His or her death is a loss not only to the family, but to the community.
During the Easter Season, the church celebrates her hope and her healing found in and through her Lord Jesus Christ. The Mass of the Tiny Innocents will be celebrated in loving memory of those who have died due to miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth or neonatal death. The liturgy commits the children to the rebirth and eternal happiness found in the presence of their eternal Father while respecting the privacy of the family.
A litany of baby’s names will be read at the Mass, and parents can call the parish office at (678) 393-0060, ext. 814, by Wednesday, April 19, to leave their child’s name if they desire the name to be read. If a child has not been named or if discretion is desired a first or last name only may be given, for example, “Baby Smith” or “Baby Susan.”
The Helping and Healing Ministry and the Respect Life Ministry will host a reception immediately after the Mass in the parish hall. All are welcome. The church is located at 3400 Old Alabama Road.
