St. Brigid To Host Divine Mercy Lenten Mission

Published March 16, 2006

St. Brigid Church will host a Lenten parish mission from Saturday, March 25, to Wednesday, March 29. Father Anthony Gramlich, MIC, assistant rector of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass., will lead the mission, which is entitled “Divine Mercy in My Soul!” All are invited to the mission.

Father Gramlich will preach at all weekend Masses at the church on Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26, and will lead the sessions on Monday, March 27, through Wednesday, March 29, beginning at 7 p.m. each evening.

The mission will conclude on Wednesday, March 29, with the parish Lenten penance service.

Sister Maria Faustina Kowalska, born in Poland and a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, received a message in the 1930s from Jesus, who asked her to spread the message of his Divine Mercy throughout the world. She was canonized by the church on April 30, 2000, the first saint of the new millennium.

Her diary, “Divine Mercy in My Soul,” has become the handbook to the Divine Mercy.
