St. Pius X High School will present the 15th annual “Dad’s Morning of Recollection” Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at the school, located at 2674 Johnson Road.
This year’s event marks the 15th consecutive year Msgr. Richard Lopez, a renowned speaker and religion teacher at St. Pius, has met with fathers to discuss pertinent and timely issues including the special privilege and challenge of fatherhood.
All fathers are invited to attend and celebrate their shared faith and commitment to fatherhood.
Joe Conboy, chairman of the organizing committee, said that this year’s event will have elements of wisdom for all participating fathers.
“We are inviting past and present fathers of St. Pius students to take some time away from the ‘catch as catch can’ approach to being a father and spend some time examining issues that we all face,” he said.
The morning starts at 8:30 a.m. with Mass, followed by doughnuts and coffee. This will be followed by a presentation by Msgr. Lopez, discussion, and question-and-answer sessions. Lunch and the sacrament of reconciliation conclude the morning at about 1:30 p.m. Drinks are provided, but participants should bring a sack lunch.
“This morning is about the gifts and graces of fatherhood,” Msgr. Lopez said. “My goal is to do the will of God and for these fathers to gain some strength and insight in their sacred calling.”
