Cabaret Luncheon To Honor Purser Society Donors

The third annual Purser Society event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Libby’s Cabaret to honor Sister Kathleen (Kay) Purser, GNSH, and to recognize donors who annually contribute $250 or more to support the programs of LIFESPAN Resources, an organization that offers “positive programs for older adults.”

The Purser Society was formed to honor Sister Kathleen for her many years of dedication to and caring for the participants of LIFESPAN and for her leadership as the organization’s past executive director. Sister Kathleen will attend this year’s festivities. Now living in Pennsylvania, she is a member of the leadership team of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, which has approximately 150 sisters working in the eastern United States and Alaska in health care, education, pastoral and social ministry.

Purser Society members will receive complimentary tickets to the event, which will include lunch and an exclusive cabaret presentation. Additional tickets are available for $35 per person to those who wish to attend. Seating is limited, so reservations should be made as soon as possible. Libby’s Cabaret is located at 3401 Northside Parkway.

LIFESPAN Resources, formerly North Atlanta Senior Services, is an interfaith, nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to enhance the quality of life of those 55 and older in north Atlanta by recognizing and responding to their interests and needs. LIFESPAN is a member of Shepherd’s Centers of America and a member of the Georgia Association of Adult Day Care.The organization, which is housed at Trinity Presbyterian Church, offers life-enriching programs and services as a vital part of its mission. Retired persons and persons of all ages using their knowledge, skills and experience and compassion volunteer their time to make these programs and services a reality.

LIFESPAN offers quarterly Lunch ‘n Learn programs that meet for eight Thursdays and offer classes for mind, body and spirit as well as social interaction. These programs take place at various churches in the north Atlanta area. The LIFESPAN Day Club, which takes place at Trinity Presbyterian, offers a unique program in adult day care three days a week. Frail older adults who are physically limited or memory impaired enjoy a wide variety of programs while their caregivers enjoy a respite. LIFESPAN also provides a medical escort transportation service on Tuesdays and Wednesday, and information and referral services.
