Archbishop Donoghue To Celebrate Mass For Annual Rosary Rally

Published September 22, 2005

The annual Archdiocesan Rosary Rally will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, at Holy Spirit Church and will include an outdoor procession and recitation of the rosary, followed by a Mass inside the church celebrated by Archbishop-emeritus John F. Donoghue.

The rosary rally will begin at 3 p.m. outside the church at 4465 Northside Drive, NW. A member of the Serra Club will lead a prayer for vocations, and fourth-degree members of the Knights of Columbus will provide an honor guard. Bill Weller, a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church, will be the master of ceremonies.

Following the rosary, the procession will enter the church where Archbishop Donoghue will celebrate the Sunday Mass, assisted by Deacon Bert Berding, spiritual director of the rosary rally committee. Priests of the archdiocese are invited to concelebrate the Mass.

Members of the many parishes and various ethnic communities of the archdiocese are encouraged to attend the rosary rally as the Year of the Eucharist declared by Pope John Paul II comes to a close. This is a special opportunity to pray for the urgent intentions of peace in the Middle East, the needs of all stricken by Hurricane Katrina, and spiritual renewal in the church and in the nation.
