Parish Art Auction Supports Scholarship Fund

Published July 1, 2004

St. Benedict Church opened its doors to parishioners and friends on Saturday, May 1, with the parish’s first Art Auction and Wine Tasting, an event the church plans to offer yearly.

Attendees strolled around the Parish Life Center, bidding on silent auction items donated by parishioners, including original framed and matted photographs taken by Msgr. Hugh Marren, pastor of St. Benedict, as well as a Florida condo weekend and tickets to various sporting events. Also available for the auction were over 250 pieces of fine art provided by Regency Fine Art of Norcross.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres were provided by local sponsors The Flask, Kroger, and La Cazuela.

The enjoyable social evening netted over $21,000 for the St. Benedict’s scholarship fund, which helps parishioners with Catholic school tuition. For more information regarding this scholarship fund, which is managed by the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, contact Matthew LaHood at (678) 687-1435.
