St. Pius To Host Appraisal Day Benefit

Published April 8, 2004

St. Pius X High School will host an “Art and Antique Appraisal Day: A Mini-Roadshow” on Saturday, April 17 in the Donnellan Center Conference Room from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Art and Antique Appraisal Day offers an opportunity to have antiques and art appraised. Roderick Hardy, ASA, a certified fine and decorative arts appraiser with Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Ebay experience, will provide verbal appraisals for fine art and antiques. Hardy, a St. Pius parent, is the appraiser to Callaway Gardens, the Georgia governor’s mansion, the Georgia Capitol, the Bradley Museum, Hay House, SunTrust Bank, Kenny Rogers and Jane Fonda, among others, and has been one of the vetting appraisers for the St. Philips Antique Show for the previous seven years.

There will be a $15 charge for each item and a maximum of three items per person. Checks are requested, payable to St. Pius X.

All funds collected benefit the “Building on Faith” capital campaign. Appointments are required. To arrange an appointment, call Susan or Elden Quilling at (770) 739-1841 and leave a message. No weapons (swords, guns, knives, bows and arrows and similar objects) or hazardous materials are permitted on or near the St. Pius X campus. Hardy cannot appraise jewelry or automobiles. Attendees may bring photographs of large pieces that are not transportable.
