Nine new priest are monsignors in the Atlanta Archdiocese

As a recognition and honor to the clergy of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, in one of his final acts, Pope Benedict XVI, at my request, named 9 Diocesan priests Chaplains of His Holiness “Monsignors.” I informed the new Monsignors of this papal honor earlier this afternoon, March 7, 2013, during a meeting here at the Chancery.
The new Monsignors announced today are the following:
§ Father Frank McNamee, Rector of Christ the King Cathedral, Atlanta
§ Father Ed Thein, Rector of Sacred Heart Basilica, Atlanta
§ Father John Walsh, Pastor of Saint Joseph, Marietta
§ Father Ed Branch, Campus Minister at Lyke House, Atlanta
§ Father Jim Schillinger, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Atlanta
§ Father Albert Jowdy, Pastor of Saint Lawrence, Lawrenceville
§ Father Jaime Barona, Pastor of Saint Michael’s, Gainesville,
§ Father Daniel Stack, Pastor of Saint Francis of Assisi, Cartersville
§ Father Peter Rau, Pastor of Saint Peter Chanel, RoswellAt dates yet to be scheduled, I, or Bishop Zarama, or Bishop Talley will personally visit the parish of each new Monsignor to recognize this papal honor with a Mass of Thanksgiving.
