Demolition continues as the Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School takes shape.

Some 44 students have been accepted into the school, which serves families in economic hardship, according to a news release. The school is slated to open in the fall with 125 students in its inaugural year.

Demolition at the Midtown building began before Christmas and was completed before the end of January. Three floors of the building will be converted into 18 classrooms, an exercise room, male and female locker rooms, a cafeteria and a chapel. Winter Construction Co. is to complete the renovation by the end of April. Operations and staff offices will be located in the neighboring annex building.

The former office building on West Peachtree Street served as the chancery for the Archdiocese of Atlanta for several decades.
