ATLANTA—The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia issued 25 grants totaling $110,000 for the 2021 competitive spring grant cycle.

The foundation accepts grant applications and makes awards twice a year.

Catholic Community Grant awards

The Catholic Foundation’s Board of Directors awarded and approved 15 Catholic Community Grants for the spring cycle, which is open to Catholic schools. Funding for these grants is provided by the Conrads Family Education Fund, which supports Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell: $2,500 to purchase a pair of augmented reality glasses for the STEAM lab to provide more effective, hands-on instruction.

Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School, Atlanta: $5,000 to help renovate the existing media center into a technologically advanced “Cristo Rey Commons.”

Monsignor Donovan High School, Athens: $6,000 for new TVs and technology to help implement learning options as a result of COVID-19.

Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fayetteville: $15,000 to replace TVs in the classrooms with HD monitors and LCD display boards to aid in math and science.

Our Lady of the Assumption School, Brookhaven: $1,500 to teach tennis to kindergarten through 8th grade students and for use in the Extended Care Program (ECP).

Our Lady of Victory School, Tyrone: $8,000 to continue building STREAM activities for students.

Queen of Angels School, Roswell: $10,000 to provide oversight of the QA fields with cameras both during the school day and when the fields are used by SPC and Catholic Metro League.

St. Catherine of Siena School, Kennesaw: $4,000 to purchase necessary curriculum materials for special classes, including P.E. and STEM enrichment.

St. John the Evangelist School, Hapeville: $7,500 to replace outdated Chromebooks for students.

St. Joseph Parish School, Athens: $3,000 to acquire building items, a 3D printer, and Lego EV3 and WeDo robots for the new STREAM lab.

St. Joseph School, Marietta: $6,000 to continue teacher training in the Orton Gillingham method and provide instructional coaching for teachers.

St. Jude the Apostle School, Atlanta: $5,000 to offer a biblically-based “Social Emotional Learning” (SEL) program for grades K-8.

St. Mary’s School, Rome: $10,000 to repair and smooth the field surface, sod the soccer field, and renovate the playground.

St. Peter Claver Regional School, Decatur: $10,000 to replace the decades old window blinds.

St. Thomas More School, Decatur: $6,500 to purchase furniture and materials for the new Pre-K4 classroom/program.

Parish Enrichment Grant awards

The Catholic Foundation’s Pastors Advisory Council made the award recommendations for 10 parish enrichment grants to the foundation’s board for approval. These grants help meet needs that the pastor has identified as meaningful.

St. Bernadette Church, Cedartown: $1,000 to purchase a St. Joseph statue, an outdoor picnic table, and needed supplies for the School of Religion.

St. Catherine Laboure´ Church, Jefferson: 1,000 to help the parish become more energy efficient by switching to LED lighting in the worship area, office, classrooms and other areas.

St. Catherine of Siena Church, Kennesaw: $1,000 to help increase the quality of social media communications by purchasing a new camera and laptop for live streaming and graphic and video productions.

St. Francis of Assisi Church, Cartersville: $1,000 to fund a back-to-school celebration for the high school students of the parish. Students from over ten high schools will come together again after COVID for faith, fun and fellowship.

St. Jude the Apostle Church, Sandy Springs: $1,000 to improve the teen space to help create a welcoming environment tailored to the teens of the parish with the technology to best serve them.

St. Lawrence Church, Lawrenceville: $1,000 to purchase two flat screen TVs with mounts for use in the classrooms to enable digital viewing.

St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Jackson: $1,000 to buy furniture for the rectory.

St. Peter the Rock Church, Thomaston: $1,000 to help offset unexpected repairs to the parking lot.

St. Peter’s Church, Lagrange: $1,000 to add a Memorare plaque to the St. Joseph Garden, plant lilies and replace the failed irrigation clock to provide and maintain an inspirational area for reflection and meditation.

St. Thomas More Church, Decatur: $1,000 to support a four-week marriage enrichment program for married couples drawing from wisdom in St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises.
