TYRONE—Students at Our Lady of Victory School, Tyrone, recently participated in the Be Joy Food Drive.
Many school children face hunger and rely on schools to provide meals. The Be Joy Food Drive helps local food organizations prepare and deliver backpacks filled with food each week to help feed these children on the weekends.
The students at OLV School brought in food items for over a week. With a student body of approximately 105 students, students brought in 1,026 food items for the drive, averaging nine items per student.
The students’ generosity during this food drive reflects their desire to promote a sense of community and thanksgiving to all, said George Wilkerson, the school’s principal.
