St. John Neumann To Hold Parish Mission

Published April 21, 2005

St. John Neumann Church will hold a parish mission on Monday-Wednesday, May 2-4, focusing on God’s love, forgiveness, healing and renewal. The mission will be led by Father Tom Vigliotta, OFM, of the Franciscan Ministry of the Word. All are invited to attend.

Father Vigliotta will lead the three-day mission to help participants prepare for the Ascension of the Lord and Pentecost by asking them to see the face of God in the challenges of everyday life.

Evening sessions will be held from 7-8:15 p.m. in the church. On Monday, the talk will focus on living in the embrace of God’s love and forgiveness. On Tuesday, Father Vigliotta will talk about healing the human heart. On Wednesday evening, the mission will end with a Mass of celebration as participants are restored and renewed in the life of Christ and called to share this life with all those they meet in their daily lives.

Father Vigliotta will also celebrate the 9:15 a.m. morning Masses during the mission. After Mass on May 2 and 3, he will be available for a “Roast the Friar” dialogue over coffee and doughnuts in the parish hall.

Father Vigliotta is a native of eastern Long Island, N.Y., and he holds a master of arts degree in school counseling and a master of divinity degree from the Washington Theological Union. He has served as a director of religious education and RCIA and as a campus minister at Furman University in South Carolina. Since 1989, he has conducted more than 100 parish missions and retreats all over the South.

Nursery will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis for evening sessions and the morning Mass.

St. John Neumann Church is located at 801 Tom Smith Road, Lilburn.
