Holy Spirit Preparatory School celebrated its first homecoming with a 20-8 win over The Heritage School, Newnan. Senior quarterback Zach Raus ran for the first of his two touchdowns in the first quarter. Starting in the place of injured junior running back Joe Maranville for the second week in a row, sophomore running back Adam Lindenau led the team in rushing with 151 yards on 26 carries. He also ran for a touchdown with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter. Lindenau’s older brother, Mike, led the defense with 10 tackles. Holy Spirit went into halftime with a 14-8 lead. Homecoming king and senior wide receiver Robby Malinowski had one catch for 27 yards, but in the fourth quarter he converted a fake punt for a 12-yard pass to keep Holy Spirit’s drive going. It eventually led to Raus’ second touchdown. Senior homecoming queen, Monica Diodati, had no runs or catches for touchdowns, but escorted by her grandfather Agustin Diodati and wearing a floor-length evening gown, she walked 55 or 60 yards pass an ecstatic crowd of home fans. Holy Spirit (4-2) is 2-0 in region play, and they travel to Monticello to take on Piedmont Academy Friday, Oct. 27.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, clinched a playoff spot in Region 6-AAAA with a 21-7 win over Southwest DeKalb High School and extended its record to a perfect 7-0. In six out of its seven games the St. Pius defense has held opponents to seven points or less. They face Mays High School at home on Friday, Oct. 27.

Marist School, Atlanta, defeated DeKalb County’s Lakeside High School 42-7 at home. They established their dominance with 35 first half points. On Oct. 27 Marist (6-1) plays its final home game of the season against Southwest DeKalb High School.

Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, had its four-game winning streak broken with a 14-7 loss to Gatewood School, Eatonton. Pinecrest (6-2) will host Brentwood School, Sandersville, in its last home game of the season Friday, Oct. 27.

Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, lost a close one to The Westminster School, Atlanta, 17-13. Blessed Trinity (4-3) will take on Druid Hills High School at North DeKalb Stadium this Friday, Oct. 27.

In Fairburn, Our Lady of Mercy High School sophomore quarterback William Pearl ran for two touchdowns, but the Bobcats came up short, losing to Alpharetta’s Mount Pisgah Christian School 35-13. Mercy (1-6) travels to Mableton Oct. 27 for a game against Whitefield Academy.
