Blessed Trinity High School, Roswell, lost its second game of the season on the road to Dunwoody High School 31-21. It’s like the team is following the script from last year’s schedule through five games—three wins followed by two losses to the very same teams. Junior running back Bruce Johnson led the team in rushing with 100 yards. Running back Sam Burkhalter also had 63 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. Quarterback Kohl Hegetschweiler completed nine of his 14 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore defensive back Jake Skole led the defense with 20 tackles in the loss. Blessed Trinity (3-2) returns home to face Riverwood (3-2) on Friday, Oct. 12.

Our Lady of Mercy High School, Fairburn, surpassed the school’s single game scoring record for the third week in a row with a 44-34 win over Glascock County High School, and in the process obtained the most wins in a season in school history. It’s also the first time Mercy has won three consecutive games in a season.

Mercy was out-rushed by Glascock County, but Mercy out-passed their opponents. Quarterback William Pearl was eight of 17 with 118 passing yards. He also ran for 55 yards. Running back Jarrell Bankhead was on the receiving end of two Pearl touchdown passes of 29 and 27 yards. Running back and wide receiver Dominique McDermot also had two rushing touchdowns of six and 27 yards, respectively. Linebacker Will Simmons led the defense with 10 tackles. Mercy (3-2) plays Eagles Landing Christian Academy (4-1) on homecoming night Oct. 12.

Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, came away with a 43-0 road victory against Monroe Academy, Forsyth. Running back Rick Thompson ran for two touchdowns. Quarterback Michael Metz also rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and he threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to his younger brother Kevin. Pinecrest (4-2) begins a four-game stretch against regional opponents as the team faces Westminster Christian Academy, Watkinsville, on homecoming night Oct. 12.

St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, (4-1) goes on the road to take on Cedar Grove High School (2-3) on Saturday, Oct. 13.
