All 22 track and field athletes from Holy Spirit Preparatory School qualified for the upcoming state meet April 26-28 at Mills Stadium in Albany. It is quite a feat considering there were only five students on the team when the program first started four years ago.

Following the regional meet on April 16, Holy Spirit sophomore Adam Lindenau was named the best male performer. Lindenau finished first in the 110-meter hurdles, first in the 300 hurdles and second in the 200-meter sprint. He also ran a leg on the 4×400 relay team. According to head coach Bob Pelletier, “This is his first year in track, and he started running the hurdle races about five weeks ago.”

Multiple winners included freshman Trey Blanchard and sophomore Saeedah Cook. Blanchard won the 100-meter sprint and came in second in the 400, and he anchored the 4×100 relay team to first place and the 4×400 relay team to second place. Cook took first place in the 400 and 200 sprints. She also anchored the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams to first-place finishes.

Coach Pelletier is delighted all 22 participants are able to go to the state meet. “I would have never guessed that all of them would qualify, although as a coach you want all of them to get to the state meet. The whole team is charged up and looking forward to competing.”
