The seventh annual Pedal for the Poor and Family Festival returns to Suwanee Town Center Park on Saturday, April 21. Beginning at 9 a.m., teams of 10 or more will again ride their bikes for one hour to raise money for the four school feeding centers operated by Amigos for Christ in rural Chinandega, Nicaragua.

Amigos, a nonprofit organization based in Buford, serves 500 students two hot meals each day—46,000 meals a year to needy students.

Riders will receive free T-shirts, snacks and access to the games and attractions all day. They are also eligible for various prizes, including a mission trip to Nicaragua and an iPod.

The day will include an “American Idol”-style talent contest, lively musical entertainment by The Transiztors and other local talents, a “Top Chef” style salsa cookoff, games, a moonwalk, a rock-climbing wall, face painting and food concessions. Admittance to the park is free. All are welcome to bring the family for a fun day at the festival.

Amigos for Christ needs team leaders, riders and sponsors to make this event a success. Families, neighborhoods, schools and church groups or students working on service projects are encouraged to participate in the bike event.
