2 Mercy Wrestlers Medal In State Tournament
Published March 1, 2007
Our Lady of Mercy High School sophomore Clint Ford and junior Thomas Raville placed in the medal rounds of the state wrestling tournament at the Gwinnett Civic Center in Duluth, Feb. 15. Ford, who competes in the 112-pound weight class, took a fifth-place finish after defeating his Commerce High School opponent with a pin in the third period of the match. Raville, a 125-pound contender, managed a sixth-place finish after pinning his opponent from Treutlen High School, Soperton, in the final period of his match. Patrick Silloway, an OLM junior, also qualified, but did not place in the medal round.
Head wrestling coach Francis Giknis said, “I am very proud of how hard Clint and Thomas worked all year. Having two out of three of our state qualifiers take home state medals says a lot for our program. I can’t wait until next year when we qualify and take the whole Bobcat wrestling team to the championship tournament.”
