Jake Henderson, a sixth-grade student at St. John Neumann Regional School was recently named a state finalist in the Doodle 4 Google Contest sponsored by the popular Internet search engine. The competition to reinvent Google’s homepage logo was open to students in grades kindergarten to 12, with students competing in school level brackets. Two doodles were then selected as winners from each grade group in each state. Contestants were instructed to “doodle around the theme “What if…?”

Henderson’s entry, “What if the earth was an art pad?” was one of the winners in Georgia in the grade 4-6 category. The competition then advanced to ten regional levels across the country before the national winner announcement at the end of May. The national winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship and will have his or her doodle “go live” on Google for a day.
