Deacon Donald W. Marchildon remembered

Deacon Donald Marchildon

ATHENS—Deacon Donald Wood Marchildon of Athens died peacefully and surrounded by family on Oct. 25. He was 84 years old.

The son of the late Lester C. and the late Virginia Marchildon, he was born in Thebes, Illinois and grew up in Cairo, Illinois.

Deacon Marchildon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen Ruth Marchildon and is survived by his daughter Bonnie Roberts (Craig); son Wayne Marchildon (Jo); daughter Julia Nasworthy (Jimmy) and son Daniel Marchildon (Monica); four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters CarolAnn Harvell and Charlotte Jackson.

Deacon Marchildon served in the U.S. Army and in the Georgia National Guard. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was ordained a deacon in 1989 and served at St. Joseph Church, Athens.

Funeral Services were Monday, Nov. 8 at St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Charities, 535 Hawthorne Ave., Athens, GA 30606.
