ATLANTA—Some Holy Spirit Preparatory School students, faculty, and families joined Mission Youth in downtown Atlanta to spend time on the holiest days of the church calendar.

Anamaria Duran, a rising senior, said, “We were accompanying Jesus in the little ways we could.”

From Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday some 80-90 missionaries participated, including students and parent chaperones. Groups visited a nursing home, cancer hospice and children’s center. They visited with homeless men and women, bringing lunches, shoes, prayers and smiles. Missionaries also attended liturgies at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Freshman Sydnee Crawford said her experience of the Way of the Cross on Ponce de Leon Avenue made her see the community in a new way.

“We were walking through Atlanta, and it was a holy place!  I’ve never thought of it that way,” she said.
