Pinecrest senior’s conversion wins contest

“Jinny” Jin Sol Kim is heading to Dallas, Texas, after winning the statewide Georgia Right to Life oratory contest.
Kim had already won the Atlanta chapter of Georgia Right to Life contest when she competed on the state level April 20. Now, she will participate in the national competition June 28 as she attends the National Right to Life convention in Dallas as a guest.
The senior at Pinecrest Academy, Cumming, won the top prize at the Atlanta competition, held at Holy Spirit Preparatory School, Atlanta, with a speech about her conversion to the pro-life movement. Jinny grew up in a culture that did not consider life issues surrounding abortion. The culture valued, above all, a good education and a good job while an unexpected pregnancy would get in the way of these plans. It was not until Jinny experienced praying with her classmates in front of an abortion clinic in January 2011 that she had a change of heart.
The second-place Atlanta winner was Clara Diodati, a Holy Spirit Prep School senior and winner of last year’s oratory contest. The prize was $50.
And there were two third-place Atlanta winners, Matt Markham and Mia Voss, both juniors at Holy Spirit Prep School. They each earned $25.
The Atlanta judges were Christine Brown, Andrew Kurt and Nick O’Connor. The organizers thanked John Spann, respect life leader at Holy Spirit Prep, for hosting the event in Holy Spirit Prep’s library.
