Annual Catholic Day At The Capitol Set For Feb. 7

Published January 19, 2012

The Archdiocese of Atlanta and Diocese of Savannah invite Georgia Catholics to participate in the fifth annual Catholic Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Georgia State Capitol.

The day will begin with a legislative briefing at 8:30 a.m. at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Atlanta. Participants will then have the opportunity to attend the opening session of the Georgia General Assembly, meet local legislators and advocate for public policy that protects those who are vulnerable and promotes the common good.

Atlanta Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory and Atlanta Auxiliary Bishop Luis R. Zarama will attend the event. Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer of Savannah will serve as the chaplain for the day.

The event is free, but registration is required so that organizers can communicate last-minute changes. Attendees will be responsible for their own lunch.

The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is located at 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW, Atlanta. The Georgia State Capitol is located at 206 Washington St., SW, Atlanta.
