Jesuit Retreat House Dedicates New Center
Published December 8, 2011
The 4,000-square-foot resource center accomplished several goals; all business offices were moved in order to maintain the silence and stillness of the retreat environment as well as to foster a collaborative work environment. The Trinity Book Shop now has a special place to operate and welcome the public. The building has a small conference room that can be utilized as a small group meeting area as well.
The general retreat house improvements included five additional guest rooms—two of which are fully handicapped accessible—and three additional spiritual direction rooms. The entrance and lobby area were renovated and expanded to provide a welcome area and a library seating section with fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows.
In addition, the courtyard was redone with pavers and was recently nominated for awards for its design. It replaces the grass area and offers a pleasant looking space as well as an area specifically for drivers needing handicapped access.
