The popular Theology on Tap speaker series is going on throughout the summer, featuring priests, a woman involved in the nonprofit world, and even a bishop.

The casual atmosphere at these evening events draws young adults 18 to 40 to gather in local bars and restaurants for a conversation about faith and how it applies to daily life. The Wednesday meetings start at 7 p.m. with networking and dinner, followed at 7:30 p.m. by the speaker, followed by questions and answers. At 9 p.m., it becomes a social event.

There’s a $5 cover charge at the door. No registration is required.

On June 29, Bishop Luis Zarama will talk about “Christian Leadership: Not for the Faint of Heart.”

Bishop Zarama was ordained a priest in 1993. In 2009, he was named auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Before becoming a priest, Bishop Zarama, a native of Colombia, taught philosophy and theology to college students in his native country for many years.

The event, hosted by YAM Toastmasters, takes place at Manuel’s Tavern, 602 N. Highland Ave.,  Atlanta.

On July 6, Stephanie Bosse will talk about “You Are What You Eat! The Christianity Behind Consumerism.”

Bosse works in the Diocese of Orlando, Fla., helping with all areas of Catholic Relief Services, including advocacy, programming, relief efforts and more.

She was commissioned as a “Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade Ambassador” in October 2007. Her work focuses on the poorest of the poor and the different opportunities available in the United States to work for a more just world for those most at risk and suffering.

This evening is hosted by St. Thomas the Apostle Church YAM. The event takes place at Taco Mac Prado, 5600 Roswell Road, Atlanta.

On July 13, Dominican Father Jeffery Ott will talk about “How To Be Holy.”

A native of New Orleans, Father Ott is the pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Atlanta. He graduated from Xavier University, New Orleans, with a bachelor’s and from Columbia University, New York, with a master’s and Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis, with a master of arts in theology and a master of divinity.

Before moving to Atlanta, he served as the university chaplain at his alma mater for seven years. He likes watching pro sports live and is a “Who Dat” fan of the New Orleans Saints.

This night is hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes Church Young Adult Group. The event takes place at Gordon Biersch, 848 Peachtree St., Atlanta.

On July 20, Father Luke Ballman and Michael Ferrin will talk about “So, What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life?”

Father Ballman, a native of Dayton, Ohio, was ordained a priest in 2001. After serving at Holy Spirit Church, Atlanta, and St. Augustine Church, Covington, he currently serves as the director of the Office of Vocations for the archdiocese.

Prior to ordination, he earned a degree in business administration, and then moved to Atlanta where he worked for eight years as a management consultant. He is an avid runner, and loves to read, especially history.

Ferrin, a native of Snellville, graduated from Emory University in 2004. At Emory, Michael met his wife, Amy, and has been married to her since 2008. Upon graduation from Emory, he spent five months hiking the 2,175-mile Appalachian Trail.

Ferrin has worked in the archdiocese since 2005, as a youth minister at St. Pius X Church in Conyers and St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Dahlonega, and as campus minister at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega. Now, he serves as the associate director of the Office of Vocations for the archdiocese. He is an avid runner, hiker, guitar player and woodworker.

This evening is hosted by Holy Spirit Young Professionals. The event takes place at Taco Mac Prado, 5600 Roswell Road, Atlanta.
