An in-depth spiritual retreat with noted speaker, author and peace activist, Jesuit Father John Dear, will be offered at St. Jude the Apostle Church on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6. All are invited to attend.

The retreat, entitled “The Road to Peace: Gospel Nonviolence in a World of Violence,” is being sponsored by Pax Christi St. Jude. This retreat will give participants a unique opportunity to grow in faith and understanding with a remarkable man of peace.

Father Dear is a peace activist, pastor and prolific author, as well as the former director the Fellowship of Reconciliation. Following Sept. 11, 2001, he served as the coordinator for 550 Red Cross chaplains at the Family Assistance Center near Ground Zero. He has traveled to war zones around the world, given thousands of lectures on the subject of peace, and been arrested more than 75 times for peace activism. A resident of New Mexico, Father Dear was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The retreat will take place on Friday, March 5, from 7-9 p.m., and all day on Saturday, March 6, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.

The suggested donation to cover the expenses of the retreat is $35 per adult and $20 for students.

The deadline to register is Feb. 14. Participants are urged to register early.
