The Camerata Theatre will present an Atlanta Christmas tradition, “The Play of Herod,” a 12th-century music drama at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.

The evening performance will take place in the Abbey Church. The audience is invited to join the cast after the show in the reception room for cider, cookies and Christmas carols.

“The Play of Herod” was first performed in Atlanta in 1974 and was previously presented at the monastery in the mid-1980s.

Due to the nature of the play, there will be no late seating after 7 p.m. Organizers advise that the play is not suited for babies or youngsters unable to sit quietly for an hour.

Seating is limited, and reservations are required. General admission tickets are $20 each with an additional $1 mailing/handling charge. Tickets can be ordered online at www.holyspiritmonasterygifts.com, by phone at (800) 592-5203 or in person at the Abbey Store at the Monastery.

Tickets purchased after Dec. 4 will be available at a “will call” table at the Abbey Store beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert.

All proceeds will benefit the Monastery Food Bank. The Abbey Store will be open before and after the concert.
