Patrick Madrid To Speak At St. Brigid

Published August 20, 2009

Madrid will present his “Surprised by Truth” series, which includes four talks addressing the issues Catholics face today. The series contains “Answers to Lies Society Tells You,” a fast-paced look at several common fallacies people frequently encounter in today’s culture; “Answer Me This!: How to Respond to Common Questions About Catholicism,” which answers many questions people ask about the Catholic Church, from Mary to the papacy, from the Eucharist to contraception; “Why Be Catholic? (When You Could Be Anything Else?),” a charitable and respectful examination of a dozen key biblical and historical reasons for being Catholic; and “Search and Rescue: How You Can Help People Come Home to the Church,” which explains 10 crucial “dos and don’ts” for Catholics who want to share, explain and defend their Catholic beliefs, based on the popular book by the same title.

The author and editor of 14 books on Catholic themes including “Pope Fiction,” “Search and Rescue,” “Does the Bible Really Say That?” and “150 Bible Verses Every Catholic Should Know,” Madrid edited and co-authored the acclaimed multi-volume “Surprised by Truth” series. In addition, he is the host of four EWTN television series, including “Pope Fiction” and “Search and Rescue.”

Madrid is a nationally and internationally known author and speaker, conducting thousands of seminars on Catholic themes, in English and in Spanish, at conferences, parishes and universities across North America as well as Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He is a regular presenter at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio and has been a guest lecturer in theology at Christendom College, Front Royal, Va.

Madrid is a cradle Catholic and has been a practicing Catholic his entire life. He and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 28 years and have 11 children and six grandchildren.
