Pueri Cantores Choir Festival To Be Held

Published August 4, 2005

Catholic school and parish choirs are invited to register now for the Pueri Cantores Festival and Mass, which will bring together several hundred singers ages 7-18 from the Archdiocese of Atlanta and Dioceses of Savannah and Charleston on Nov. 6 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah.

Bishop J. Kevin Boland will celebrate the 2 p.m. Mass, and noted American conductor Lee Gwozdz, music director at the Cathedral of Corpus Christi in Texas, will conduct the choristers.

Participants will sing during the Mass as one large, combined choir—an extraordinary experience for young singers. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist offers one of the most resonant settings for music and worship in the Southeast. All parish and school choirs are encouraged to attend.

Pueri Cantores is the official student choral organization of the Catholic Church and includes 60,000 singers from 30 countries. The American Federation Pueri Cantores sponsors regional, national and international festivals throughout the United States and abroad.
