Transfiguration Church Ladies Auxiliary celebrating 20 years
Published July 19, 2023
MARIETTA—The Ladies Auxiliary of Transfiguration Church has reached a significant milestone, celebrating its 20th year of existence. Originally formed as a small group focused on fostering fellowship and enjoyment, the organization began by assisting the Knights of Columbus with projects such as providing desserts for Lenten Dinners and serving coffee Sunday mornings.
Over time, the Ladies Auxiliary expanded its activities to include the creation of crafts for sale at a parish craft fair through their “Little Market” initiative. The members established annual events like the Book Sale and Spaghetti Dinner, which allowed parishioners to socialize while browsing books. The funds from these projects supported charitable causes.
Among the outreach efforts, the Prayer Gift Ministry stands out with its international focus. Inspired by the idea there is always a need for prayers, Mary Gamble created prayer blankets to be given to those in need. Individuals would have their names added to the organization’s prayer list, and the first Prayer Blanket was presented to Msgr. Patrick Bishop in 2010. Over the years, the Ladies Auxiliary has sent out nearly 10,000 Prayer Gifts and witnessed the power of prayer.
Through its service, the Ladies Auxiliary of Transfiguration Church honors God and makes a positive impact on the community.
