A Lenten season focused upon “Living the Corporal Works of Mercy” will be highlighted by a number of upcoming events at St. Ann’s Church.

On Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26, the Living Stations of the Cross, a re-enactment of Christ’s Passion, with music, narration and a costumed portrayal involving about 80 people, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Music will be provided by Ed Bolduc and a choir. Baby-sitting is available during this evening event.

On Tuesday, March 30, the Lenten parish penance service will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the church with a large number of visiting priests available to hear individual confessions. Babysitting will also be available during the penance service.

On Wednesday through Friday, March 31 through April 2, Father Tom LeClerc, MS, who formerly served on the parish staff and who holds a doctorate in theology, will return to present three Lenten teachings on Jesus. Offered at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day, Father LeClerc’s topic on Wednesday will be “Portraits of Jesus in the Gospels” and on Thursday and Friday his topic will be “The Passion of the Christ . . . according to John.”

On Saturday, April 3, a Seder Meal will be held in the parish center at 7 p.m. as a culmination of the reflections. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (770) 552-6400, ext. 6027 or 6026.

Throughout Lent the focus for the parish has been the corporal works of mercy: feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, visiting the imprisoned, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick and burying the dead. Parishioners were given a list of the corporal works of mercy on Ash Wednesday and every Sunday a particular work was highlighted at Mass, including ways to live out the call to act mercifully. The pastor, Father Tom Reilly, MS, and Karen Morning in the Liturgy Office, prepared the Lenten programs.

Among the ministries that were highlighted were Food for the Poor, Habitat for Humanity, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dismas House, the St. Ann’s Mission Club and the Pastoral Care outreach of the parish to the sick.

Holy hours of prayer and eucharistic adoration were offered March 4, March 11 and March 18 and were focused, respectively, on peace, the spirit of love, and songs and praise to Mary.
