Area Coach of the Year Paul Stevens and his Blessed Trinity High School (48-10) volleyball team are a step closer to defending their state title if they get by Eagles Landing Christian Academy (35-7) during the semifinals match. The Roswell School defeated the Atlanta International School 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-12) and Westminster School 3-1 (26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20) to reach the semifinals once again.
Following their fourth straight area championship, St. Pius X High School has reached the state volleyball semifinals for the fourth time in five years. The Atlanta school defeated Dalton High School 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-19) and Gainesville High School 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-13) to make it back to the semifinals. St. Pius (48-5) will take on a familiar opponent in Woodward Academy (32-26). St. Pius finished as the state runner-up after losing to Woodward in the 2008 state volleyball championship.
