Journey of Hope group to start next session Jan. 5

Published January 1, 2016

ATLANTA—The Cathedral of Christ the King will offer Journey of Hope for those experiencing loss due to separation, divorce or the ending of a long-term relationship.

The next session of the Journey of Hope group begins Tuesday, Jan. 5, and is to conclude March 23. The group will meet in the former rectory of the cathedral, located at 2699 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta. The programs will be Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

Since the early 1990s, the parish has offered support groups for people experiencing separation and divorce.

The book, “Journey of Hope,” by Lisa Duffy and Vince Frese, is the basis of the current program. Other resources include “Marital Separation” by Roberts Weiss and handouts developed by facilitators.

In order to obtain the maximum benefit from this support program, participants are encouraged to attend all sessions during the 10 weeks.

Topics of discussion include strategies for communicating with an ex-spouse, financial issues, helping children through difficult times, the value of suffering and gratitude, self-worth, coping with special dates and holidays or events, working on forgiveness, resuming dating and the annulment process.
