ROSWELL—For the third consecutive year, Blessed Trinity High School’s varsity volleyball team has been selected for the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. In order to be nominated for the award, a team must maintain a 3.3 GPA for the entire academic year.

The St. Pius X High School volleyball team also was given this honor for 2014-1015.

The academic award is available to collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year.

Since the award’s inception in 1993, the number of award winners has increased from 62 to its current number of 757. Among the eligible categories at the collegiate and high school level, high school girls’ teams garner the largest number of awards.

“Being part of the varsity volleyball team at Blessed Trinity is an enormous time commitment, and being able to balance that commitment while maintaining excellent grades takes great effort and hard work,” said Paul Stevens, head volleyball coach at BT. “I’m so proud of the dedication that these players show to being true student-athletes.”
