Conference March 29 for parents, grandparents of those with disabilities

SMYRNA—All parents and grandparents of children and adults living with disabilities are invited to join together for faith, family and friendship in a parent conference hosted by the Disability Ministry of the Atlanta Archdiocese.

On Sunday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the conference will offer specialized topics that address spiritual, parenting, educational, life skills, legal, and faith formation questions.

It will be held at the Chancery, 2401 Lake Park Drive, SE, Smyrna.

Speakers will include David and Mercedes Rizzo, who will present “Spiritually Able—Our Family’s Faith Journey.” Randy Hain will speak to fathers in a discussion entitled “Blessed Children, Special Fathers,” while Lucy Cusick, executive director of FOCUS, will speak to mothers.

Other topics include the spiritual and emotional ups and downs of grand-parenting, living your faith in your parish, Sophia Academy and learning differences, transition to Pre-K, special needs wills and trusts, and St. Mary’s Independent Living Extension (SMILE) Medicaid waivers. A question and answer panel discussion will end the day.
