CUMMING—Under the leadership of Pinecrest Academy head varsity soccer coach Chris Kane, the boys and girls soccer teams have been awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Awards for Academic Excellence for the 2013-2014 academic year.

For a team to be considered, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.25 for all team members who appear on the official roster for the season, and the coach must be a current NSCAA member.

Pinecrest Academy is one of 53 high schools nationally, out of a total of 334 teams, to receive this award for both the boys and girls programs. The boys finished the year with a GPA of 3.77 and the girls finished with a 3.87. Both teams will be honored at a banquet during the NSCAA convention in Philadelphia Jan. 14-18. Pinecrest is an independent Catholic school in Cumming under the leadership of the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi movement.
