Holy Spirit girls place in state cross country competition

ATLANTA–After an undefeated regular season and a regional tournament win, Holy Spirit Prep School’s girls varsity cross country team competed in the Georgia Independent Schools Association state meet at Darton State College, in Albany, Oct. 25. Holy Spirit raced against 13 other schools and some 100 athletes.

The team from the Atlanta independent Catholic school captured the second-place trophy, finishing behind Westminster Schools of Augusta.

Five Holy Spirit runners finished in the top 25, including Stephanie Perez (13th place, 21:15.37), Deisi Casillas (14th place, 21:17.03), Natalie Casal (21st place, 21:50.55), Meredith Jones (24th place, 21:52.51) and Elizabeth Perez (25th place, 21:53.78). Lauren Blankenship has coached the team for two years.
