SAVANNAH—The Diocese of Savannah’s Southern Cross newspaper editor, Michael Johnson, will be participating in fundraiser by rappelling down a Savannah building.

Johnson is a bilateral, below the knee amputee who maintains an active lifestyle. On Friday, Oct. 31, Johnson is going “Over the Edge” of the Historic Manger Building, one of the tallest buildings in Savannah.

As a former Boy Scout and Scout Master, Johnson thrives on adventure and helping others. Before he rappels down the 11-story building, he must raise $1,000. He raised the bar, with a goal of $4,000.

The money is to benefit the Boy Scouts in coastal Georgia and Catholic Relief Services. If the goal is reached, the Boy Scouts of America will receive $2,500 and Catholic Relief Services will receive $1,500.
