Kyle Pietrantonio took over as head of school for Holy Spirit Preparatory School on March 1.

Pietrantonio previously was the school’s associate head of school and Lower School principal. He has served in different roles during the past eight years, including high school history and Latin teacher and junior high principal. More recently, Pietrantonio was a leader in the $2 million renovation to the Lower School campus, according to a news release.

Joann Jones, the leader of the board of directors, said, “We are excited for the future of the school and the new leadership under Kyle Pietrantonio. The school is exceptionally grateful to Gareth Genner for his significant contributions during his tenure, and we appreciate his availability over the next several months to provide any necessary consultation to our new head of school and the board.”

Genner, who stepped down as school president on Feb. 28, 2013, will serve as a consultant during the transition.

Pietrantonio has strong connections to both the Catholic and private school marketplace, locally and nationally. He is a doctoral candidate in educational leadership and policy studies from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the class of 2013 in Catholic Charities Leadership Atlanta. On the development of education, in 2007, he was awarded the E.E. Ford Fellowship from the National Association of Independent Schools for aspiring heads of school. In 2011, Pietrantonio was invited by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to serve on a feasibility board for a Cristo Rey Jesuit Catholic high school in Atlanta.

Pietrantonio said, “I am honored to serve Holy Spirit Prep in this leadership role. Familiar with the landscape of Catholic education in our area and across our country, I know Holy Spirit Prep to stand out in important ways: an extraordinary faculty—wonderful women and men of faith—dedicated and devoted to helping students reach their potential; an amazing student body proud of their school and blessed with many diverse gifts; and a community of parents whose generous spirit, support and partnership are unparalleled. Out of this comes a precious energy that binds a faith community and academic community together. My hope is to harness this energy in ways that will only further enhance the Holy Spirit Prep experience.”

Holy Spirit Preparatory School (www.holyspiritprep.org) is an independent, coeducational, Catholic, college preparatory school serving students from Pre-K2 through high school on three campuses in Sandy Springs.
